Secret Blog

Yes, you guess it correctly. This is a secret blog. Only a few, very few, trusted friends know about this blog. I won't reveal my real identity at all.

Who am I? It's for us to know and for you to try and find out.

What's my reason for keeping it under the dark shroud of secrecy? So that I can write what I like and when I like without any unwanted responses from some people whom I am avoiding and ignoring.

Enjoy the secret journey with me in this blog. Thank you :)

Andy Ong Siew Kwee of Sakae

Two weeks after external auditors of Sakae Holdings Ltd flagged financial irregularities at an associate firm, Andy Ong Siew Kwee, a non-executive director of Sakae, which owns the Sakae Sushi chain, has been asked to resign from its board. In a filing with the Singapore Exchange last night, Sakae revealed that Mr Ong, who managed Griffin Real Estate Investment Holdings, had been identified as the person responsible for "various undisclosed irregular financial transactions . . . undertaken in (Griffin)" that may be in breach of the Companies Act.

The board has asked Mr Ong to tender his resignation within seven days from Feb 1. If it does not receive his resignation in 14 days, it will convene an extraordinary general meeting to remove him from his position, Sakae said.

Hotel Scam

BEWARE OF HOTEL SCAM!!!

Hotel/Motel Scam
(This one is so simple it is shocking)
You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. When checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for all the charges for your room). You get to your room and settle in.

Someone calls the front desk and asks (for example) Room 920 - which happens to be your room. The phone rings in your room.

You answer and the person on the other end says the following:

'This is the front desk. When checking in, we came across a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits on the reverse side of your charge card.'

Not thinking anything, you might give this person this information, since the call seems to come from the front desk. But actually, it is a scam of someone calling from outside the hotel/front desk.

They ask for a random room number. Then, ask you for credit card information and address information. They sound so professional, that you give it to them, thinking you are talking to the front desk.

If you ever encounter this problem on your vacation, tell the caller that you will be down at the front desk to clear up any problems.
Then, go to the front desk and ask if there was a problem.
If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone called to scam you of your credit card information, acting like a front desk employee.

This was sent by someone who has been uped........ and is still cleaning up the mess.

P.S. PLEASE PASS ALONG TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Who knows, you might just help someone avoid a nasty experience

ANYONE traveling should be aware of this.

That seems very modest, considering that the food here is above average and certainly better than several zi char places.

Cheaper to Drive a Foreign Car in Singapore

Why is it cheaper to drive a foreign-registered car in S'pore? Comparatively speaking, the expenses associated with driving foreign-registered cars are cheaper than locally-registered cars. For instance, they are not hit by high road tax if they are 10 years old. These cars are also not required to maintain a 3/4 petrol full tank when crossing borders.

Red Packets

Traditional art forms seem to be in vogue this year, where Chinese New Year red packets are concerned. UOB's lace-like red packets are inspired by the art of Chinese paper-cutting.

Said UOB vice-president Jamie Lee: "Singaporeans prefer the traditions of the past brought into the designs of the present. So it made perfect sense to weave the art of paper-cutting into the pattern of our red paper packets."

DBS's red packets feature a boy and girl greeting the new year with auspicious sayings, while POSB's feature mascot Smiley and friends celebrating the festive occasion.

Not to be outdone, OCBC has four different designs in each of its hong bao packets. Hanging off a cherry blossom tree are four items associated with Chinese New Year. They are the pineapple, for wealth and prosperity; jade, for luck; a pouch, which symbolises plentiful wealth; and an oriental fan, to bring good cheer.

Speak Well

Speak from the heart and share our experiences. Impress our audience with our ability to think on our feet by addressing their responses effectively.

Have a bigger purpose in mind when we speak to an audience. Share our values and invite our audience to journey with us.

We will engage our audience when they can relate to us on common experiences and problems. Show that we are serious about helping them and offer them solutions.

Ask questions. Put ourselves in our audience's shoes. Show that we have been there and done that.

Position ourselves as an expert. Read widely and deeply and always be ready with different perspectives and analyses. Our experience counts too. The more we have, the more we can share.
