Bulaubulau

It rains for over 200 days a year here.
But this doesn't dampen the spirits of the Atayal people in Bulaubulau, who play host to groups of tourists who come visiting for a day to down copious amounts of rice wine while indulging in a seven- course meal.
Nestled deep in the mountains in Yilan County, Bulaubulau is a small village that is home to members of the Atayal tribe, or "taiya zu" in Mandarin.
This is where clusters of nine families cook, hunt, weave and entertain guests who come here to learn about the culture of one of Taiwan's indigenous tribes.
There are no roads here and there's hardly any mobile network either. The only vehicle you'll encounter will be the jeep that will pick you up from the sleepy town of Hanxi, and then drop you off halfway up the mountain.
From there, the rest of the journey is on foot.

Pseudo Identity

Is there a need to use someone's mobile and fixed line numbers to call us?
Is there a necessity to use someone's email address to contact us?
Just be who you're unless you've something to hide.

We trust our intuition and the little voice in us a lot.

Mature

Being strong doesn't always mean you have to fight the battle. True strength is being mature enough to walk away from all the nonsense with your head held high.

Choose

I've learned that I cannot always count on others to respect my feelings even when I respect theirs. Being a good person does not guarantee that others will be good people too. We only have control over ourselves on how we choose to be a person. And for the others, we can only choose to accept them or walk away.

Wealth

Tycoons are shunning banks and wealth managers, preferring to put their wealth into property and new ventures rather than trust industries whose reputations have been battered by the global financial crisis.

Some of the wealth managers have little experience in investment. They care more for the amount of commission earned instead of multiplying the wealth of their clients.

$10.61 Billion Loss

Singapore's central bank posted a $10.61 billion net loss in its last fiscal year as the local dollar's gains against the yen and euro diminished the value of its foreign currency holdings.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) also said the city-state's economy will "comfortably" meet the official growth forecast of 1-3 per cent for 2013, while inflation for the full year is expected to come in at 2-3 per cent, lower than the earlier estimate of 3-4 per cent.

Special Lady

Both of us are so different. We are comfortable in different languages. We are of different religions. Yet we can communicate.

She is of modest means. She works hard. Yet she is very generous.

She gave me not one but three gifts. There was no special occasion. Yet she made the day special.

Thank you!

Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on our religion or status in life, our race or skin colour, political views or culture. It depends on how good we treat others.

Choice

We believed that most people, when given the choice, would do what was right, even when it was hard, and we believe that good almost always triumphed over evil.

Meritocracy

An emphasis on social mobility sends the same message but with significantly different thrust. A society which prizes social mobility holds up a collective goal, while one prizing meritocracy focuses on individual achievement.

Barcodes

Shoppers scanning matrix barcodes for discounts are getting more than they bargained for - malicious software.
A growing number of people are reporting scams involving the codes, the black-and-white squares now seen on most advertisements.
When shoppers use smartphones to scan the codes, their devices open a website for a company or product and often receive a discount voucher.
However, instead of receiving a bonus, many people say they have fallen victim to crooks.

Message

A Reddit user posted a photo of a poignant message that she found taped to the stall in a women's restroom at her university.
The user, chellylauren, wrote: "In a girls' bathroom stall at my university, girls have written about some of their most horrifying life experiences. This week, somebody replied."
The reply, written on notebook paper, is anonymous.
The reply in full:
To the girl who was raped: You are so strong. I cannot fathom the pain you must have gone through. The fact that you have the bravery to write it (even on a bathroom wall) gives me hope.
To the girl with eating disorders: I promise you, although I don't know you, you are beautiful, you deserve your health. You deserve freedom from that hell.
To the girl with the alcoholic father: I am so sorry for the agony it must cause. Again, such courage is remarkable you must be such a strong person to see such pain.
To the girl whose father died: Missing them never goes away. The ache of their absence never goes away. But the love they had, the memories you share surely must last. I am sure, out of the bottom of my heart, the people who have left you in this world are exceptionally proud of the person you are.
Everytime (sic) I see these walls, these confessions, I feel so blessed to know I have the priviledge (sic) of seeing them. Your moments, these secrets, are all precious even though they are sad. To all of you (including those I did not mention, and those who have not yet written)
-You are worthy.
             -You are strong.
-You are brave.
-You are loved.
-Somebody cares.
Written below that, somebody penned a quick response: "To the person who wrote this, thank you."
