Letter from SingTel

We thank Ms Neo Seok Kian for her feedback ("Free services should automatically stop when promotions end"; Monday).
SingTel offers a range of value-added services free for a limited period as a promotion for customers who sign up for new mobile lines. For example, customers can enjoy three months' free caller ID and auto-roam service with selected mobile plans.
These services are offered on an opt-in basis and are not provisioned without customers' consent.
Our sales staff are required to inform customers who choose to take them up that standard charges will apply when the promotion ends.
We apologise that this was not clearly communicated to Ms Neo.
We have contacted Ms Neo and helped her unsubscribe to the services that she no longer wants. We also explained that this can be done at any time via the MySingTel smartphone app, My Account online portal or by calling our customer care hotline on 1688.

I beg to differ. I was given daily updates by Reuter which was charged to my bill. I did not opt-in for it at all. My consent was not asked at all by Ms Haze of Hello! SingTel Shop at
