North Korea confirmed on Tuesday it has successfully conducted a third nuclear test, saying it used a miniaturized device that had a greater explosive force than previous tests, the North's KCNA official news agency said.
It said a miniaturised and lighter nuclear device was used. Regional seismic monitoring agencies detected a seismic event, of a magnitude between 4.9 and 5.1, at 11.57am (0257 GMT) with the epicentre in the same location as the North's Punggye-ri nuclear test site.
