Lee Li Lian


THE opposition Workers' Party (WP) has made history by winning the Punggol East by-election on Saturday, with its candidate Lee Li Lian securing 54.5 per cent of the valid votes in the single-seat ward.
The 34-year-old sales trainer - contesting in Punggol East for the second time - defeated her closest challenger, the People's Action Party's (PAP) Koh Poh Koon, who managed 43.7 per cent.
